Child Resiliency Programme Trains Future Leaders in Peace and Wellness

Graduation ceremony for students at the International University of the Caribbean Peace Institute.

The Child Resiliency Programme (CRP), in partnership with the International University of the Caribbean (IUC) Peace Institute, has taken bold steps to equip future leaders with the skills and mindset necessary for building peaceful and resilient communities.

Dr Kim Scott, Director of the CRP said that through targeted training and practical experiences, the initiative is fostering a new generation of advocates for peace, wellness, and community transformation.

During the Christmas term, the CRP leadership team conducted an intensive training and certification programme in peace building, resiliency, and wellness (PRW). This initiative targeted final-year guidance and counselling students, Bachelor of Education students, and psychology majors, providing them with practical tools to address the social and emotional challenges faced by children and families.

The training, conducted through the IUC Peace Institute, saw the participation of 105 students, all of whom graduated from the university on November 21, 2024.

Training in PRW and the CRP operations took place with principal, guidance counselors, teachers and facilitators at the CRP Replication site at Chalky Hill Primary on September 26 and with all principals guidance counselors and grade 5 teachers of the feeder school for Boys Town and Mountain View Primary on September 12 in preparation for the new referral cohort
